MTS Pictures is proud to announce the North American release of their latest feature, SOULS CHAPEL, an indie horror-western inspired by the real-life legend of an early 1900s reverend who practiced the occult. The film is now available from Desktop Entertainment on DVD and VOD platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.
Directed by and starring Jack C. Young (channeling his cousin Clint Eastwood's iconic Man with No Name), SOULS CHAPEL also stars genre favorite Brian Bremer (Pumpkinhead, Society) alongside Adriana Curtsinger, Jermey Boggs, Gage Carnes, Joseph McDowell, and Molly Gill.
"Souls Chapel is my way of exploring faith, fear, and the thin line between legend and reality—because sometimes what we believe becomes something very real," said Young.
It’s an unknown point in time. The world has moved on from what it once was. Ray, a drifter, is making his way through the hills of old Kentucky. Ray is encountered by a strange entity that promises him gold if he returns two icons to it. After accepting the challenge, Ray finds himself in the middle of a terrible storm, in which he seeks refuge in a small church known as Souls Chapel. As things begin to unfold, Ray learns that church clergy is not who they seem, and that the chapel’s grounds are cursed with a presence of dark magic. Ray must not only survive the night but complete his task and make it out alive.
Souls Chapel is written and produced by D.W. Daring (Reign of the Red Dragon) alongside Robert Bess and Young's production company, MTS Pictures. Austin Rutherford and Zach Jones served as Director of Photography. Executive Producers include Gary Dando, Mike Davies, Martin Davis, John Przybylinski, Micah Roberts, and LolaBeth Smith.
“I wrote Souls Chapel to prove that the most terrifying stories don’t come from Hollywood—they come from real places, real history, and the things people are afraid to talk about," said Daring.
Jake C. Young, sometimes credited as "Jake Eastwood," is one of the very few actors who have had such a diverse career. Young is an American actor who has gone from humble beginnings, as a supporting cast member of independent films and low-budget horror movies, to owning his own production company, MTS Pictures.
In his early years, Young was credited by the stage name "Jake Eastwood" as an alias, due to being a relative to well established Actor/Director, Clint Eastwood. Along with his uncanny resemblance, under the recommendation of his manager, he adopted the Eastwood name. Young is known for his directorial style of independent filmmaking. A few notable titles include: A Night of the Undead and The Dark Room.
He is best known for his role as gunslinger, cowboy, and vampire hunter Jonah Van Helsing in the film Daylight to Dark. His films extend from major leads to occasionally appearing in cameo roles such as Free to a Bad Home, Reunion From Hell 2, various music videos, and Lifetime films. Young is an advocate for independent filmmaking and production.
